 KUT post on the GTA:

An Austin organization is trying to green up Austin’s IT firms for the good of the city’s economy.
The Green Technology Alliance says IT companies waste lots of energy running program and electrical hardware and software that can be easily turned off.

GTA Membership Survey

Please participate in our short survey to help us develop the organization you want and need.  Based on extensive feedback we have developed a 6 question survey to help us better create the programs you want us to create.

The survey takes less than 5 minutes and could help the GTA green the world!  Go to survey here...

GTA Launch Party
Help Needed...
We are working with several potential sponsors to make this event free to the community.  The current $55 dollar cost is to cover the meal and power play card for each attendee.

If your organization would like to be a sponsor to help make this event both a success and free please contact Michelle Naquin at your earliest convenience at 512-484-8573.

Newsletter Changeover

While the membership and event registration site is fully functional their mailing list option did not provide the tracking of delivery and click through analysis or ability to send out HTML newsletters.

We moved the email delivery system only to iContact with this newsletter and apologize for not sending out a newsletter last week.  Our outlook option used last time did not enable us to get a newsletter out as the list had grown too large to do so.

With the new set up I did not select the double opt out option when I moved the list over because everyone on the list has had several opportunities to remove themselves from the list.  You will continue to be able to do so with the new set up.

Note: please use the 123 links to update your profile, opt out of the newsletter etc. NOT the iContact link because we will continue to register people and link membership and event registration etc. through 123.
Upcoming Changes to Website

Watch the website for changes to the website.  We will be adding additional information on the GTA alliance model, the roll-out plan for the next year and much more.

General membership information on programs and benefits will also be added as the feedback from the survey rolls in. GTA Events

 Where Tech Meets Green
Green Tip of the Week

Reduce your paper trail!

Every US worker is using about 10,000 sheets of letter paper a year.  Only 10% of the over 12 million tons of printing and writing paper used in the US contains recycled content.
Recycled paper uses less than half the energy and up to 90% less water to produce.

With advancements in technology and high quality recycled paper make a commitment today.

Commit to using only recycled content paper the higher the recycled content the better.  Office Max and other retailers offer 100% recycled paper perfectly adequate for copiers and drafts.  Use lower content higher quality paper only when necessary.
