Design~Build~Live Monthly Presentation
(Formerly the Sustainable Building Coalition)
Wednesday, May 21, 2008, 7:00 pm
Casa de Luz, 1701 Toomey Road
"Health Benefits of Natural and Green Building over Conventional
Construction"
Guest presenter: Sue McDonald
What is Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS) , or Environmental Illness?
How is this condition related to the health index of one's home or
work environment, with regard to how processes and materials might
affect our individual level of sickness. Are women more susceptible
than men? What about conventional building is unhealthy or chemically
toxic? How is Green building, or Natural building, better? What
materials or systems are more healthful, and where can conscious
consumers research and purchase products to minimize or counteract
chemical sensitivity?
These important questions are still fairly new for most people. And,
for those of us who are not about to build a new custom home:
How can we make EXISTING homes more healthful? Are there ways to
recover from whatever toxic exposures a person may have
accumulated so far? Why is the mainstream medical community focused on
Cures, rather than examining the Causes of sickness?
Ms. McDonald < www.SueMcDonald.net > offers Houston-area seminars on
"Making Safer Choices In a Toxic World" based upon her personal
recovery from exposures that resulted from conventional homebullding
practices. We've also invited Rowena Caldwell for input this month. She
is a long-time member of the local nonprofit 'Texans for Environmental
Health' < www.TXEH.org/index.htm > TXEH is among the oldest existing
support groups for those with MCS, or Environmental Illness.
This presentation is free, but modest donations at the door are
gratefully accepted. No reservation required.
