Hi Everyone,

The Permaculture Basics Weekend is finally upon us. We
still have a few spaces available. Call me today if
you can, but we'll be accepting registrations right up
until 8:59 Saturday morning (class starts at 9). CALL
ME at 512-619-5363 to ask questions or to sign up.

To inoculate you with the permaculture way of
thinking, which will energize and empower you to
create a more sustainable world starting from wherever
you are RIGHT NOW, Kirby and I have put together a
packed program:

SATURDAY
--Problems of the world; our usual responses -
permaculture offers simpler, more effective solutions
--Core principles of permaculture design
--Patterns. Pattern literacy as a key component of
sustainable culture
--Energy-efficient planning: Zones and sectors

SATURDAY NIGHT
--Sunset walk; movie night (Global Gardener, Power of
Community - How Cuba Survived Peak Oil, A Convenient
Truth - case study of Curatiba, Brazil)
--Optional sleepover (Bring sleeping bags, cozy up on
the floor Japanese inn-style.)

SUNDAY
--Natural building; green building
--Natural regions
-- Soil and water
-- Renewable energy, appropriate technology
-- Invisible structures, right livelihood
-- Design exercise
--The Permaculture Community (global and local)

During the breaks and BYO/potluck meals, you'll have
time to connect with like-minded people. Also, you'll
get to check out the solar oven and Rocket Stove.

If this piques your interest, but you already have
plans for the weekend, consider rearranging your
schedule to join us. If you have kids, no worries,
bring them along; at last count we have two young
people with us.

Taking time out to study permaculture in this setting
will give you a whole new view of the world -- one
that will simplify your decisions and enrich your
life.

In the words of Bill Mollison, who founded the
permaculture movement back in 1978, "Education is the
most portable and flexible investment you can make in
yourself."

Talk with you soon. Call me anytime; I get up early
and stay up late.
